Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term as President of the United States. Immediately after the ceremony, he signed numerous executive orders, including:

  • Immigration Crackdown: Implemented stricter immigration policies.
  • International Withdrawals: Withdrew the U.S. from the Paris Climate Agreement and the World Health Organization.
  • Pardons: Issued pardons to approximately 1,500 individuals charged in connection with the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, including leaders of the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.

International Relations

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu congratulated President Trump on his inauguration, emphasizing the strong U.S.-Israel alliance and expressing optimism about future collaboration.

Executive Order 14172

President Trump signed Executive Order 14172, titled "Restoring Names That Honor American Greatness." This order directed the reinstatement of the name "Mount McKinley" for North America's highest peak, reversing the 2015 decision to rename it "Denali." Additionally, it proposed renaming the northern part of the Gulf of Mexico to the "Gulf of America."

Return-to-Office Order

President Trump issued a mandate requiring federal employees to return to their offices, ending remote work arrangements that had been in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. This order led to reports of inadequate working conditions, including pest infestations and insufficient workspaces, raising concerns about employee well-being and productivity.

Invoking the Alien Enemies Act

President Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to authorize the deportation of individuals associated with the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua. This marked the first use of the act since World War II. However, a federal judge temporarily blocked these deportations, citing legal concerns about applying the act in this context.

Proposed Travel Restrictions

The Trump administration considered implementing new travel restrictions affecting citizens from up to 41 countries. The proposed measures ranged from total visa suspensions for certain nations to partial suspensions and requirements for others to enhance security protocols within 60 days to avoid restrictions.
